About Us
We here at Bantry Bay Crafts are a family run and owned business run out of our home in Massachusetts. My name is Katie and I am the owner of Bantry Bay Crafts. I have 2 amazing children who love to help me and work aside me doing this journey. I have a daughter Emily or Em who is 15 and in high school, loves her gymnastics , reading and crafting. Emily is a big help with this between helping pick the designs ,to helping with the Cricut and so much more. My son Cameron or Cam who is 10 loves his sports mainly the Boston Bruins and his Manchester United soccer. He loves to play his sports especially soccer and his video games.
We came up with the name of Bantry Bay Crafts to honor my mom who passed away in 2005 she had named her cattery Bantry Bay because of our family heritage so in honor of her and that we named our shop Bantry Bay Crafts. My family lost my mom back in April of 2005 suddenly and it forever changed our world. She leaves a very large legacy and set of shoes for my siblings and I to fill. We are choosing to honor my mom by creating this small business .
I was a behavior therapist for 14 plus years working with children on the autism spectrum aging from 1 year to 14 years of age . I was able to work in both the private sector in homes, private schools as well as the public schools. I enjoyed my time working with these amazing kids. They all hold a special place in my heart. When I had my son 10 years ago he was born with some medical issues that forced me to make the hard decision but best decision at the time to stay at home with him and his older sister who was about to start kindergarten . I was able to focus my attention on him and his doctors appointments and having him in Early Intervention . Since that day I have always been a stay at home mom, and I work part time in retail while they are both in school currently while doing this. I have started this to help my own mental health as well as my kids mental health . As mom we tend to take a lot on and forget about ourselves and our mental health can suffer. I started making some fun items around Christmas with my daughter as presents for family and it has taken off from there.
